IBM October 2008 announcement update including: During this session, we will the review the latest hardware announcements this year, and then take a look at what’s new in the IBM i 6.1 (i5/OS V6R1) operating system, and the latest license and packaging options.

We will review the latest Communications Update on SNA moving to Enterprise Extender (V5R4 vs. V6R1)

We will also re-visit planning for V6R1. Did you know that IBM i 6.1 (i5/OS V6R1) became generally available in March with many significant enhancements?

Also, have you heard that IBM i 6.1 will require additional planning due to program conversion?

Our Speaker, Tracy Smith Certified Senior Consulting I/T Specialist

Tracy has been with IBM for 30 years and started his career in the Poughkeepsie, NY lab. He has worked on the AS/400, iSeries, eServer iSeries i5 since 1989 when he transferred from the Lab to the Poughkeepsie, NY branch office as an AS/400 System Engineer. He has provided technical leadership in the delivery of new technologies to the platform; PC Support, Client/Server Computing, Client Access, DASD Top Gun, File Server I/O processor (FSIOP), Network Station, 64 bit RISC based computing, Domino and the POWER5 Technology.

While in Rochester, MN he has worked as an executive presenter in the Rochester Executive Briefing Center, team leader for the Domino World Wide Compentency Center and in his current role as the team leader for Technical Sales Support for the Americas where he specializes in the latest Power systems technologies.
