Experts agree that one of the most overlooked areas of IBM i security is the integrated file system (IFS). Despite containing many sensitive things, including the operating system and all of your application libraries and files, IFS security remains a mystery to most administrators. Robin Tatam joined PowerTech's Eden Prairie, Minnesota office in 2009, bringing with him more than two decades of AS/400 and IBM i consulting experience. He has a strong background in midrange application development (RPG, CL, CGI) as well as systems administration. Since 2003, Mr. Tatam has consulted with domestic and international clients on security and compliance issues, rising rapidly to the top tier of IBM i security experts. Mr. Tatam's skills provide an invaluable contribution to the PowerTech team and the global clients it serves. Recent projects include teaching classes in security and system administration, as well as numerous compliance-oriented engagements. Prior to joining PowerTech, Mr. Tatam co-authored the IBM Redbook on System i data encryption and had a seat on the “Panel of Experts†at the iNSIGHT Security Conference in Las Vegas. Robin is an award-winning presenter of IBM i security content, a subject-matter-expert (SME) and inductee in COMMON's "Speaker Hall of Fame", and a popular guest presenter at user group events around the country. Published in numerous magazines including full-feature technical articles in Midrange Computing and MC Press Online—he's the author of dozens of IBM i security articles and white papers. As a prominent thought-leader on IBM i security, Robin has been interviewed on IBM i security trends by ComputerWorld and DV Dialog magazine, and recognized on IT Jungle's list of "Top 10 Best IBM i Blogs."
