WebSphere File Utility
A tour of an open source file utility that runs over WebSphere is presented. This is a Java Server Page and servlet application that provides generic file maintenance capabilities. It is an excellent chance to see WebSphere in action and to gain a deeper understanding of how WebSphere applications are constructed. Topics include dynamic page generation using JSP's, JDBC and servlets for business logic. Some familiarity with WebSphere is assumed.

Carson A. Soule   is the CEO of Computer Applications Specialists, Inc., a national company providing AS/400, networking, software and services. Carson attended the University of Maryland and has earned Certificates in Computer Programming (CCP), Data Processing (CDP) and Systems Professional (CSP) from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals (ICCP). In addition, he is certified by IBM in AS/400 sales, technical support and networking. He has over 25 years of System/3X experience starting as a System/3 programmer and continuing through the System/32/34/36/38 and AS/400. Mr. Soule is was in Common (an IBM user group) as a speaker and previously as the AS/400 and System/36 Project Manager as well as being a member of ACM and IEEE Computer Society. He is also a frequent speaker at local and national user groups on midrange computer topics, a technical editor and columnist for News/400 and WebSphere Professional.
