John Earl
has extensive experience in the areas of AS/400 communications, operations, programming and system management, and is nationally recognized as an expert in the field of AS/400 security. With S/38 and AS/400 experience extending back to 1980, John shares a unique depth and insight on AS/400 technical topics. A frequent speaker at COMMON and other user groups on the topic of AS/400 security, John has twice been distinguished by COMMON's Speaker Excellence Committee with a Silver Medal for Speaker Excellence. Likewise, John currently serves as the COMMON "SME" (subject matter expert) for Security. He is presently the Security Editor for Midrange Computing Magazine, an advisory board member the Computer Curriculum Advisory Board for Bates Technical College (an IBM "PIE" Affiliate), and Vice-President and Chief Technical Officer of The PowerTech Group, where he focuses his attention on their mainstay security product, PowerLock Network Security software for the AS/400.
